Will Selva's parents were originally from Nicaragua and immigrated to the United States in order to give their family the most opportunities possible. Will's parents instilled in him the Nicaraguan culture and heritage. Will parents believed that through hard work, determination, and resiliency that anything could be achieved or obtained in America. Although Will's parents faced numerous hardships, they never stopped fighting for their chance to chase their dreams which they knew they would succeed doing in the United States.
In their son, Will, they made sure to instill the qualities they had inherited from their Nicaraguan culture. They never forgot about their country and everything it had taught them, which was a significant reason for ensuring their son's first language was Spanish.
Will Selva has been grateful for that very fact ever since. Will's fluency in Spanish would prove to be a valuable asset down the road in his sports broadcasting career, but being bilingual was just part of his cultural heritage. Growing up, Will felt a link to the careers of Nicaraguan sports legends such as boxer Alexis Arguello and pitcher Dennis Martinez.
Over time, Will Selva's interest in Hispanic athletes grew to include all sports, whether it was Diego Maradona, Anthony Munoz or Manu Ginobili. Now, Will Selva commits his sports broadcasting career to sharing the stories of these Hispanic athletes as it relates to a burgeoning Hispanic population in the US. Will hopes to bring the flare, passion and desire that these Hispanic athletes exhibit to their respective disciplines and expose them to a broader audience.
